MPH Podcast EP #5 – Now is the Winter of our Discontent

We discuss the cabin fever blues as winter in northeastern Pennsylvania drags on with now end in sight.  Catdog joins the mix to disembowel a helpless Elmo doll as we talk a little television and discuss the details of Liz’s self imposed Facebook hiatus.

  1. The song from The Jetsons was Eep Opp Ork Ah-ah
  2. Cities: Skylines is the game we discussed, and it’s absolutely one of our favorite titles so check it out

Special thanks to all of the listeners who have supported us thus far.  Podcasting is easy to learn but difficult to master and we’re enjoying the pursuit of some great.  Thank you for taking that trip with us, we really appreciate it.

MPH Podcast EP #4 – Middle School Dances are Awkward

Wyatt makes a brief appearance in this episode as most of the MPH gang sits down to talk a little television.  We discuss a few of the shows that take us away from the insanity of everyday life. Poparella then gives us an update on the dance she recently attended and she attempts to explain the nuances of middle school relationships.  Some notes for the show:

  1. The theme song to Playing House is called “Back Before We Were Brittle“, by Say Hi.
  2. The song “The Games People Play” was written and originally performed by Joe South.  Episode 9 of season 6 of the TV show House featured an acoustic version by James Taylor that doesn’t seem to be available anywhere for download.
  3. Poparella’s YouTube channel, again…
  4. Martin Lawrence is perfectly fine as far as we know.

Edit note: We had an audio issue for the first 20 seconds or so that was quickly resolved but caused a little echo that we could not fix through editing.  We’ll work harder next time and we’re wiser for the experience.

MPH Podcast EP #3 – Poparella From Downtown

Poparella finally arrives to claim her throne as the co-host in this episode of Mousepad Heroes!  We delve in to her nerd origin story as she takes us through how she discovered YouTube, some of her favorite personalities and how she created her own channel.  Next we ponder the nature of the characters in our short film series, the Usurper [spoilers ahead] and discuss what may be next for the Faradays.  From there we spend some time discussing Pop’s favorite game, Roblox and the role playing community she geeks out with in that world.

MPH Podcast EP #1 – My Family Had Colecovision

On our first episode of Mousepad Heroes, Jay & Liz set the stage for many conversations to come by discussing the access to technology and the Internet that kids have today.  We look back at our own experiences discovering technology and dive in to some of the social circles we find online.  The conversation explores the sense of wonder, adventure and risk we experience connecting with people online through gaming and the dangers that exist for kids making those same connections.

Reference Notes:

  1. The now defunct video game retailer that sold used equipment in the late 1990s in the US was FuncoLand (now GameStop)
  2. The mobile game Kingdom Clash is published by FireMocha and Clash of Clans is published by Supercell

Thank you for supporting our podcast!
